The detail opposite showing a door leaf on plan is also effectively demonstrating how symbols are used to communicate the designers’ intentions. Clearly, with the door opening from the kitchen into the lounge the detail confirms that the door will be hinged on the right as you walk from the kitchen, with the door handle furniture on the left hand side.
